Section 2: Classical Laser Theory

Before Einstein and Dirac and their introduction of quantum mechanical notions into our public spectre, the action of a laser would have been described purely classically, and this would suffice for most applications. As such, we ourselves will start with the classical description of the oscillation of an atom, and will only head over to quantum mechanics when we really need to.
