# Example: All Normal Dispersion (ANDi) Laser

The all normal dispersion, or ANDi, laser is an ultrafast fiber laser that is based entirely on normal dispersion i.e. $\lambda \leq 1.3 \mu{m}$ for silica host media, as the same suggests. This is a novel design, because typically for ultrafast fiber lasers, both a normal and an anomalous dispersive segment are needed such that the dispersion can be compensated in the laser. To solve this, the ANDi laser uses a spectral shaping component.
