Nonlinear Optics

Regardless of what you may have heard, or your general apprehension to any new topics in optics at this point, nonlinear optics is FUN! The field of Nonlinear Optics comes about when you are working at high intensities, such that things that we took as having linear responses before now show multi-order responses. Typically, this refers directly to the modulation of the dielectric constant and hence the refractive index being better represented in terms of their higher order terms, but it can also be used in other contexts. The next few sections should be a ride for you fellow equation nerds!
