The Challenges

While fiber based systems are incredibly promising in providing the new state-of-the-art in high power lasers, there a number of issues that arise when going to high powers that are somewhat prohibitive at this point. The fibers discussed in “The Players” part of this section were designed to overcome many of these issues, but they are still necessary to take into account when designing a system. Below I have included what I believe are the main issues, but feel free to add a comment if you see anything missing!
